EE “Ameraucana” Hen or Roo?

I had a group of 6 EE babies, straight run, and they were so hard to tell boy from girl, I spent WAY too much time trying to guess their sex

Yeah, I a little obsessed at this point. I wish I would have gotten 2 EE's so I'd have more of a chance of at least getting one girl! I guess that's a beginner for you!

LOL, wait and see if I get an egg, OR an ANGRY NEIGHBOR! Time will tell!

Your middle one is a boy. Other 2 are girls.

LOL!!!!! That "BOY" sure does give me a pretty blue egg almost daily!!!! Just goes to show how tricky EE can be!!!!

Ah well, can't be right all the time. Coloring sure looks male though.

So, how many ended up being roos and how many hens?

At least if you do have hens around... listen for a fuss. Boys try to breed /long/ before they start to crow. Like horny lil teenagers.

I feel bad about this, but I'm throwing in with the roo vote.

The coloration is suspicious, the comb is VERY suspicious, the legs are suspicious, and what capped it for me was your description of his behavior. Roos tend to be less skittish, more inquisative, and stand at attention at a very early age.

Unfortunately for me, that means that the bird that I bond with most in my batches (ie the least skittish and most tolerant of holding) almost always turns roo on me

. I totally understand your heartbreak. Grr to them for being so adorable!
