Sulo is going to his new home today, and I just want to post two or three updated pictures here just to make sure me calling him a young roo' is right on. I don't think his new owner would be terribly dissapointed if he were a she, but the new owner was looking for a EE roo specifically. This IS a boy right?

(Sulo's tail feathers are narrow and upright.)

This is Munk an EE pullet to compare (Her comb has no pink at all. And is not as defined as Sulo's.)

Sulo and Munk. (same breed/age just to see the VAST difference)

So. Sulo is a pretty definate roo right? His attitude only goes along with the rooster description. He is cocky, flightier then the girls, and whenever the girls are out of sight he is PEEEEEEEPING which I am sure would soon translate to a long loud crow

Last minute input would rock. Thanks.

I agree.....ours definitely had a more red comb from the start, and he seemed taller and had a very well defined group of tail feathers that our EE girl did not have. They look like hawks, hey? Such a neat breed!

Ok good, yeah I have heard they can be hard to tell gender but I think everything around him yells ROO. But I ask here just because I am very new to chickens, especially EE. He just looks so different from Munk who is same breed, and age. He feathered out a LOT slower, and his tail feathers started much later then Munk or Joon. He is a bit flighty as well, and seems to be rather obsessed with keeping his flock of two pullets in line.

He is off to a new home where 9 five week old EE pullets are waiting for him! I hope he feels like Elvis LOL!

If anybody else wants to YAY or NAY the rooster idea please do respond.

Edited to add:

Thank you all for responding

I am glad to know his new owner will be happy with his roo'ism. And they are so pretty! I have always had Barred Rocks before this, but I wanted to take a chance for colored eggs

plus, the two pullets I have are very sweet and easily handled. Sulo on the other hand? He TOLERATES me. lol!

EDITED once more...

Can anybody point out his "saddle feathers" to me? Or has he not developed them yet? I tried to get good back pictures.

The saddle feathers are the feathers at the end of there back right in front of there tail. He hasn't started to get in the "roo" saddle feathers yet. Once he does they will be thinner, go to a point, and curve down towards the ground.
Here is a link to pics of EE and look at the 4th picture, it is of a roo and you can see his saddle feathers (pointy feathers in front of his tail) and what they look like:

Forget saddle feathers and hackle feathers (besides those don't come in until way later) his color is a dead giveaway - He's definitely a boy.

Oh alright! LOL thanks for helping a newbie

I keep hearing about saddle feathers and couldn't figure out where they were on him. What color do you suppose he will turn out? I am glad to hear it's 100% roo so far. I like being as true as I can be whenever I rehome an animal lol, though like I said I doubt his new owner would be terribly dissapointed if he turned out to be a girl.

Thank you all

Wish Sulo the best of luck in his new life! He will enjoy it I am sure. Nothing like being surrounded by a bunch of good looking gals when you are a rooster

Just got back from dropping him off to his new home! Oh my gosh this place is like chicken heaven. It is in a beautiful gated community, very nice 9 acres, and she has a huge chicken area and coop set up, not to mention a few miniature horses, donkeys and llamas

I brought him to where his 5 week old ladies awaited, all 20 of them!! He flew right in the middle and started prancing around with his head and tail sky high haha. It was a sight! He is so happy, and I am happy for THAT. My two girls seem to not even notice he is gone, and they are doing great. Nights are warm here in Sacramento so they may be out around 6 weeks.
