EE Or Ameracauna

I have a 16 week old chicken. Is it an EE or an Ameracauna.

Easter Egger. Your hen is a wild colored EE that could lay either a blue, green, brown, or pink egg.

True ameraucana have to meet set criteria by the standard of perfection. Anything less is considered EE. And most hatcheries sell EEs and market them as Ameraucana, Americana, Aurucana, or any other possible variation of that name.

I think you can only get a true Ameraucana from a reputable breeder...I'm not aware of any commercial hatcheries that sell one.

Meyer Hatchery and My Pet Chicken offer true Ameraucana as well as EE. But no matter what, a good breeder will have better quality birds.

I've seen hatchery "true Ameraucaunas" go for $18 a chick... I got mine from a breeder for $7 a chick and he's really good
