Eeeek! Eggs have Arrived

Okay guys, so I candled last night and we are down to 20. The two in question, one was completely undeveloped, so I'm thinking that's one of the ones I was questioning a bit when I candled at day 6 but let it cook a little longer just to make sure. The other doesn't look like it developed past day 6-7. One was an RIR egg and the other an Easter egger....so I'm not too disappointed because the breeds I'm mostly concerned with hatching are doing very well. All the other eggs had nice developing chicks in them, so I'm pretty confident we'll have a decent hatch rate if things go well from here on.

Thank you for sharing that. It's a "must-see" thread. Awesome!
I loved it! I shared the "chicks you hatch for a friend but end up keeping for yourself" part with my friend who was going to split my July hatch with me, and didn't, and was going to take the 6 Christmas wilkies, and didn't 🤣 my hubby doesn't agree with the logic behind it, but it completely makes sense to me!

Oh heck ya, those that don't get taken/bought, they are just in limbo and never, ever count. Even after they reach adulthood, they still don't lol.

Those are doing great then as you're over the half-way mark! Go eggies go!
:wee :jumpy
I think they are due week from tomorrow, so yes it sounds like really good odds🤞🏻🤞🏻(knocks on wood). My mom is supposedly going to split this batch with me pending that we get a good outcome because I also have day old chicks coming from Meyer the 16th. We’ll have tons of babies! We decided to buy day olds to add in because me being due in June I want all my chicks outside and set up before my baby gets here so I didn’t really need to do a 2nd hatch out this time round. I like to have everything settled so it’s easy and routine by the time the new arrival gets here. From what I ordered we’re going to receive 10 Easter Egger sexed female, 2 Easter Egger sexed male,5 Salmon favorelles sexed female and then they threw in a “Homestead Helper” rooster for free🤔Not really sure what I’ll do with him yet. My husband said my mom needs to take at least 6🤣I told him he’s giving away all my chicks before they even get here. He’s still not over me purchasing 18 more chicks. My “limit” was supposed to be 10, but they were going to charge $50 in shipping for under 15 chicks so….logically I chose to pay more in chicks and get $15 shipping😅🫣

100% financially sound decision to make to get the extra chicks instead of paying for shipping. :highfive:
