Eeeek! Eggs have Arrived

I feel like I lied to my husband🤣I told him probably 75% would even develop!

That's hilarious! Now he's going to be skeptical even though what you told him was accurate 🤣

He said it’s about like when I said it’d take a while to have the human babies😅LIES ALL LIES he says😬😂
Here's an excellent article on 'Chicken Math' and how it applies in this situation... 🤣🤪

Our Meyer Hatchery Assorted Hatching Eggs arrived this morning. Going to let them sit until late tonight and then add them to incubator once my kiddos go to sleep. As far as I can tell by using the breed code we have:
2-Barred Rock
2-Black Australorp
2-Black Copper Maran
2-Easter Egger
2-Lavender/Black split to Lavender Orpingtons
4-Olive Egger
4-Rhode Island Red
2-Salmon Faverolles
2-Welsummer
I feel like that’s a lot of pretty decent stuff to start! Incubator has been running since the 18th, holding good temps and humidity. Wish us luck!
That’s great! Here is the key to all of the codes on the eggs https://meyerhatchery.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009830192-Hatching-Eggs-Breed-Key I hatched from Meyer hatchery and it was an amazing hatch rate!

I mean I KNEW that from past experience but I wasn’t admitting that to him just yet😅
I have a knack for gaslighting hubs into believing that more is better. I’m formulating my rationale for a half dozen guineas as I write this…and he didn’t say no; he just stared at me, so that means YES (IMHO). More = more & more :lau

So, everything negative you read about guineas can be true. I say can, because some people love them and do well, my hubby loved them, I enjoyed them to a point but really am glad we don't have them anymore. If you think chickens are brutal to eachother, guineas are 10x worse. We had the males gang up on a female and bullied her until she'd just huddle on the ground and try to hide. She was very happy to move in with the chickens, a few weeks later they turned on another female... I had to keep the guineas separate from the chickens because they would endlessly chase them. And they are LOUD, like wear earplugs when you need to be around them 🤣

They are beautiful though. Just be well informed before you take the leap and make sure you have a very large area for them away from your chickens 😊 we just had them for a year, so there are many other people who can speak more about them, this was just our experience 🙂

But overall, I like your logic! I ran getting two spots on a raffle for hatching eggs by the hubby, he seemed good with it and was very interested that there is a chance to get emu eggs, so I took this as approval to get 4 raffle spots. 😃
