Egg 2 days late pipped.. but yolk was dripping out.. HELP!

What i do is tap where the very top of the egg where the air sac is....and peel it off careful of veins and so on...pull his head out if you can! so he breathe ASAP!!!

My daughter and I recently helped a baby hatch out. It just didn't progress. I peeled the hard shell almost completely off and then pulled the inner membrane open. There were some blood vessels and I did not know what to do, so I just carefully tried to tear around them. The chick had a little cord hanging from its tummy. We put it under mama and it is running around with mama and hatch mates, fat and happy! Let us know what happens!

Ok... so I peeled from his face.. i can see he's breathing.. I see his beak there where the hole was.. I peeled up around.. hit blood.. stopped where I saw blood.. closed the incubator again. has about 2/3 of the shell still on.. do I open the incubater again and peel more??? I'm scared.. I'm using my fingers nails like I was VERY carefull peeling a boiled egg.. this is sooooo scary!!!!

so tap the shell on the fat part of the egg bottom and break more shell there.. I'm sooo scared of hurting him..

ok.. back to check

Ok sounds like progress! So just peel off some more shell...and make sure his head is elevated so he can breath and not drown. ive done this so many times i cant count

You wont hurt him if your gentle...just be careful if you see blood stay away from that area..I usually keep paper towel...a bowl of warm water and qtips so I can see the blood vessels easily. take a qtip with warm water on it and GENTLY (where the shell is off of him) wipe the inner sac so the veins show through and that way you know where they are...wont hurt him if you do that either..just make sure his head is out or elevated one of the two.

ok.. first get some paper towels and make them nice and wet with warm water.. then take that egg and wrap them around it (covering the opening loosely).. you do not want the membrane to dry out.. put him back in the incubator for at least an hour to allow for those veins to shut down.. hopefully he will hatch the rest of the way on his own.. but if not you will end up having to help.. the main thing at this stage is to keep the membrane moist and hope he makes it out by himself

any time you assist a hatch GO SLOWLY.. if you hit any fresh blood or see the veins are still plump the best thing to do is wrap the egg with wet paper towels and put it back in the bator..

only remove LOOSE shell which has pulled back away from the membrane

and keep the membranes moist

if the chick hatches out by himself at this point he will be stronger than if you have to assist through the whole hatch.. plus waiting and letting them do it themselves allows time for the yolk to be absorbed

once the membrane gets tough it makes it hard for a chick to hatch.. they tire easily and it will weaken them.

I think he's dead now.. he was breathing a minute ago.. i cleared his face.. but I no longer see breathing..
