Egg bound? Marek's? Help!

Is there any improvement today ? Is there any possibility she may have received a blow to the head ?

She's located in my bedroom since it's the easiest place to guarantee that my cat won't come in. As I was going to bed she started talking a little, which she hasn't been. This morning she didn't eat very much but still drank when I dipped her beak in water. I'll give her a warm bath this afternoon, hopefully that will help. She still hasn't pooped at all, but when she does I guess that will help to see if she has worms. She didn't seem to be straining much, though.

Have you looked into tube feeding? It's not terribly difficult, and there are some great videos on youtube to help. This will give her a little more energy, and perhaps help her produce a fecal sample.

Also, a video (upload to youtube, then post here) of her when you try to make her stand would help us to see exactly what she's doing.

I have not experienced Marek's or an eggbound hen, but I've had broodies. It does not sound to me like your pullet is broody. I'm glad you have her separated and are keeping a close eye on her.

She still hasn't pooped at all

Not pooping is a sign of being egg bound - the stuck egg blocks the vent and the hen can't poop. Not being able to stand is actually one too; the stuck egg can be pressing on the nerves to the legs and paralyzing them. I'd definitely do the warm bath to see if it relaxes her and allows her to pass an egg, and you might even want to think about giving her some calcium in case it's a stuck soft-shelled egg.

I came home today to find that she had pooped, which was good. It had a bunch of chunks of undigested food in it, I'll try to post a pic in a bit. I'm also going to give her a bath and then see if I can post a video of her trying to stand. Thank you to everyone who has pitched in!

Here's the video of me trying to stand her up.

I gave her a bath after I took the video, which she didn't seem to mind too much. She kind of just floated around and closed her eyes. She did try to jump out at one point, which I was surprised about because her legs gave her enough force to leap out onto the carpet (the bin I was using to bathe her in is very shallow, it was only a few inch drop). She lost her balance when she landed though, and rolled onto her side. Maybe the warmth/relaxation on her legs gave her some more strength?

I put Epsom salts in the water, as well. Then I replaced the towel in her laundry basket and freshened up her food and water. I blow dried her when she was done, and when she was all done I put her back in the laundry basket. She stared at her food for a while and picked at it, and then went to sleep with the space heater on. I turned out the lights so she could get some rest, too. If she wasn't sick, she would be living the luxury life right now!

Could you take a look at her pupils and see if they are round and normal looking?

And I can't remember if its been mentioned yet, but now would be a good time to get her weight, if you have a scale.

Well if she pooped then she isn’t egg bound because she would’ve passed the egg. I hope she recovers fully.
