Egg broke inside first-time layer! *Update- egg bound!

Oh, that is wonderful news! I know you are so relieved. Keep us posted on her recovery. I might consider placing her in a dark room or cover her crate for 16 hours every night to eventually stop her from laying for some time to let her vet heal.

I'm so happy for the good news! I couldn't help but think about you and your girl all evening while I was outside sitting with my girls. Please keep us updated. Oh.....did you keep the egg?

My husband took her and isn't home yet but he did keep the egg because I want to get a good look at it.

I'll probably keep her in the crate in our bathroom still for a few nights so I can make sure she's healing ok, and let her out to roam for a bit each day.

Here's her egg. It's about the size of the eggs my other hens have been laying, definitely bigger than their first pullet eggs.
