Egg eaters HELP

My new hens are just starting to lay. One of them wanted to go to the wrong nest boxes so I placed her in hers and she laid an egg.

But the other one... is laying them elsewhere. I found one outside, one in the run, and while I was gone my mom said one of them laid an egg and they all ate it. She said it was on the porch so she probably stepped on it first.

I don’t think that would happen.
If it did, how do I stop it? I tried fake eggs and real eggs in the box... she laid an egg in the nest box before...

I think it’s because whenever she goes into the nest box everyone follows her, another hen and the rooster.

If this happens again, how and why would they eat eggs? (How I mean how to stop it) ;)

I can't remember why they eat them. I have an egg eater too. And sometimes they start and I don't even notice it! I was getting ready to crack an egg this weekend and saw a small pin hole crack from a beak.

What I do to curb my egg eater. Collect eggs quickly, don't leave them in the box. Definitely try to get them to lay in the boxes so you know where to find them. Although I've had my egg eater eat one from the nesting box. To make sure they're laying in the box make sure it's dark enough and isolated. They like that. And if you're feeding them egg-shells, bake them first. Make sure they're getting enough of the right food, and calcium.

This is what I do and I rarely have an issue, although others I'm sure, who have had chickens longer than me will have more ideas. Mine are only a year old, and it's my first time with chickens.

On the 2 occasions my egg eater ate them, one was they laid them on the roosting board and it rolled off and exploded and she gobbled it up. And the 2nd time she did it because she was mad I moved her from the old coop to the new coop. So she dropped her egg in a random spot because she wasn't happy with the nesting box and then ate it.
