Egg hatching spray? Does it work or snake oil?

I was just curious, if anyone has bought and tried the egg hatching spray thats on eBay. I don't believe their claims, I think it's just the old snake oil salesman baloney. If anyones brave enough to admit they bought and tried it, I'd like to hear what the results were, good, bad or indifferent. Any thoughts from anyone is welcomed.

It claims to make the blood vessels grow faster and closer to the shell membrane interface, therefore, producing a better viable embryo. I should have copied the auction and put it in the thread....I'll do that in a few minutes.

Well... the blood vessels are attached to the membrane so I don't see how they could grow any closer to it lol

Exactly, all birds, not just chickens. I was just curious if anyone has used this snake oil, thought I'd ask, just for grins.

So after researching... Seems that absorbic acid *could* help... Doesn't mean it will make financial sense. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant which has been shown to reduce stress. IMO, best thing is to make sure the parent flock have the proper nutrient levels for breeding/hatching, which is a bit higher than that of layers, for maximum viability. And if working with shipped eggs to buy only from sellers with good history and knowledge of shipping followed up by correct procedure for handling/setting shipped eggs.

They sell it on Amazon too. I guess I won't say snake oil completely... but I personally wouldn't waste my cash.

I went ahead and bought some to experiment with. I have been struggling with shipped eggs and figured I'd give it a try since they are nearly impossible to hatch. Don't know what has changed at USPS but I have never seen so many badly damaged air cells. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.
