I was just curious, if anyone has bought and tried the egg hatching spray thats on eBay. I don't believe their claims, I think it's just the old snake oil salesman baloney. If anyones brave enough to admit they bought and tried it, I'd like to hear what the results were, good, bad or indifferent. Any thoughts from anyone is welcomed.

What is it supposed to do? Up humidity (aka a bottle of water) or sanitize the eggs?
It claims to make the blood vessels grow faster and closer to the shell membrane interface, therefore, producing a better viable embryo. I should have copied the auction and put it in the thread....I'll do that in a few minutes.

Only works with incubator and one that operates correctly .Hatchright spray for pre incubation of poultry eggs. This nurishes the chick through the shell to make stronger viens and stronger chicks that can hatch with the energy they need to survive. The embryo send veins to draw nurishment from the shell and oxygen. Hatchright soaks through the pores in the shell much as face cream to nurish skin cells under neath that women men put on at night. all natural no chemicals
Just mix hatchright powder with 8 oz of water shake and your ready to spray. May be shipped in different color vials same instructions for each vial. I spray once before incubation and then near end. Many people have seen great results spraying multiple times. With increased hatch rates. The is a german study done on egg spraying that shows immune system and size of chicks after hatch is both increased. This is for 3 vials of hatchright for 25.00 free shipping.
when your spending big money on shipped eggs you want them to have every advantage you can get!Even under hen
Read my feedback and see why i have suck good luck on shipped eggs. Stimulates cell growth and vein development through shell wall.Just like when you dye an easter egg and you open it and the color is in the inside of the egg also. The spray works in the same way taking nutrients inside the egg through the shellfe
Also has a pdf file you can download on a study done on this stuff.

Somehow or another chickens have been hatching for thousands upon thousands of years without the benefit of egg hatching spray.
Exactly, all birds, not just chickens. I was just curious if anyone has used this snake oil, thought I'd ask, just for grins.

Sounds like snake oil to me! :old

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19359703 -- This one states NO difference in hatch ability, But a difference in mortality specific in broiler breeds at 2 weeks.

http://www.metzerfarms.com/IncubatingAndHatching.cfm -- The 4th paragraph after the table shows a cooling and spraying duck and goose eggs can improve hatch ability with plain ol' water. Figured I would include it since the study that was sited was actually carried out on Muscovy eggs

https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/hatchright-spray.951538/ --- Post #4 is a trusted adviser for me...

So after researching... Seems that absorbic acid *could* help... Doesn't mean it will make financial sense. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant which has been shown to reduce stress. IMO, best thing is to make sure the parent flock have the proper nutrient levels for breeding/hatching, which is a bit higher than that of layers, for maximum viability. And if working with shipped eggs to buy only from sellers with good history and knowledge of shipping followed up by correct procedure for handling/setting shipped eggs.

They sell it on Amazon too. I guess I won't say snake oil completely... but I personally wouldn't waste my cash. :)

Happy hatching! :fl

I went ahead and bought some to experiment with. I have been struggling with shipped eggs and figured I'd give it a try since they are nearly impossible to hatch. Don't know what has changed at USPS but I have never seen so many badly damaged air cells. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

How did this go? Did you find it helped? Just curious!
