Egg laying

Has anyone ever had a hen lay her egg in a pond? I was cleaning out my ducks pond today and found an egg in the bottom.

From what people told me, ducks will lay anywhere, even in a pond. When I had ducks they often just laid in the mud.

1st time duck owner here, and my duck laid about 4 of this year In the kiddy pool I have for them. It's normal.

It took my runner ducks awhile to stop laying in their pool. They eventually figured it out though.

It surprised me because they had laid about 20 eggs so far in their house

I wouldn't.....duck eggs, from what I've read, even though their shells are harder..... they are more porous. Just my opinion, I wouldn't risk it.

That is so funny! I have had one of my girls lay an egg on top of the coop before. I thought that was a weird place to lay an egg. I think that your girl hold the title for strangest place to lay an egg.

I agree. Although I don’t have research to back up my thoughts, I wouldn’t eat them if they were in the pool.

Knowing my luck, I’d try one from the pool and then I’d start pooping just like the ducks do!
