Congrats on your duckling - Cayuga's are so pretty.

I found that when one of my duck eggs died just prior to internally pipping the shell got bruised looking spots on it. If it still looks good then there's no harm in giving it another couple of days. :fl
Did it look like this? The last chick hatched on Wednesday and today is Saturday.

Hello all🤗
I have another question.i have looked online but I’m not sure what I am looking at. I attached a picture of a cracked duck egg. There is a red dot. Sometimes it’s more fluid in the yolk like blood and sometimes the outside of the egg has red smears on it. I seem to get these more often than I think I should. Any ideas?
Thanks so much!

Its fine to eat as long as its cooked thoroughly.

It’s just a blood spot, caused by a little vessel rupturing during the egg formation process. One of your ducks may have a tendency to lay eggs with blood spots, but it’s typically not an issue.

What can u do to increase egg
Production? I have 5 females and get one a day now maybe some days none-was getting two or three- guessing it’s the heat. But I did switch to an all flock feed- do you still need to add brewers yeast? How much niacin do they need daily?
Thanks so much!
