Egg Price Profiteering Where You Live Due To Coronovirus?

Our local store now has eggs back in stock, but instead of selling for $1.50 like they did before the pandemic, they're now $2/dozen, same as mine. People keep asking if I'm raising my prices. Nope, not unless the feed prices go up.

Yes, eggs are now on the local shelves again, but the price went up higher and stayed there. Things are not back to "normal" here yet, but maybe it will take some time. Feed prices have remained the same for me, so I have not raised my prices during this period. As long as I get enough money in selling eggs (even at a low price) to pay for my feed, I'm happy.

This looks like a great year for small farms! The local farms are selling out of safe and healthy meats, and the meat processors are filling up fast! It’s a great time to have chickens!

Yes, it's a great time to have chickens. But I think just about any time is a great time to have chickens. When our local stores had empty egg shelves, I could still count on getting 6-7 fresh eggs per day from my small backyard flock of 10 chickens.

The prices of eggs jumped up from 2 to 4 dollars for a few days and the attorney general threatened price gouging charges and all of sudden the eggs disappeared off the shelves. Wasn't long then they started showing back up at lower prices.

Farm eggs tend to go for about $1 more than the stores normally. Most people around here are country and know the whole organic free range stuff is marketing garbage. They do know farm eggs are better than the store bought ones but that has more to do with them being fresh.

This area is definitely country also but it's the ONLY place out of many I've lived where I've actually heard several ADULTS say something to the effect of, "Ewww! I don't want farm fresh eggs! They came from a chicken's BUTT!!!!" Ya gotta wonder about the edjukashun [intentional misspell] folks like that gots.

 Farm fresh eggs come out of chicken butts!? I think I'd prefer commercial eggs grown hygienically in cardboard cartons for my family.
