I just made an amazing recipe and DH fell asleep, I had to tell someone!
I remember eating this as a child visiting my grandmother in Hungary and forgot how good it was til now!

It's this:

Madar Tej (translates to bird's milk) but its also referred to as Floating Islands.

3 eggs separated
1/3 cup sugar
500 ml milk, whole
1/2 vanilla bean, cut lengthwise

• In a large saucepan bring water to boil.
• Turn the heat down to slow simmer.
• Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
• Drop 2-3 large spoonfuls of egg whites into the simmering water.
• In a few seconds the meringues puff up, gently turn them over.
• Boil meringues for a few seconds, then transfer them into a serving bowl.
• Discard the water, reserve pot for later use.

• Beat the egg yolks and sugar until thick and creamy.
• Place the milk and the vanilla bean in the reserved saucepan.
• Bring the milk to boil. Remove from heat.
• To temper beaten egg yolks add from the hot milk, stirring constantly.
• Add the egg and the hot milk mixture to the remaining milk in the pot.
• Bring to simmer on medium heat. Stir continually until sauce thickens.
• Take out vanilla bean and pour sauce over the meringues.
• Serve hot or chilled.
