Egg Size - OMG!

I thought I would share the egg that my 6 month old pullet just laid.
For those that are not familiar with egg sizing, here is a basic chart.
Jumbo 70.9 g
Extra-Large (XL) 63.8 g
Large 56.7 g
Medium 49.6 g
Small 42.5 g
Peewee 35.4 g

One of my Sapphire Gems laid this monster and the first thing that came to my mind is that this is a double yolker.

So I cracked it open this morning and found that it had a single massive yolk. I added the second egg for comparison.

My wife says that that poor hen must have a sore "fluffy-butt" after that one.
This hen routinely gives jumbo sized eggs but every now and then we get one like this, but this is by far the largest.

If you follow the egg scale up, that egg would be 2 grades above a jumbo!
I guess it would be called an extra large jumbo egg.

Nice! Thanks for the gram chart for egg sizes! We’ve gotten a few extra large/ jumbo eggs with extra large yolks like yours, but never weighed them! We’ve cracked another egg next to them (like in your pic) and the size difference is noticeable!! Fun to have chickens to get the different egg variations!

my wife said that if we hatched that one, it would just about be ready to start laying eggs right away! LOL
