Just got this today in the mail ! My hens are not laying, too cold I guess, so no eggs in it as the 4 I have left are in the fridge.
Yes, those are my Hot Buffalo Bugels :plbb

Here you can see the bottom and a small issue if you don't watch how the eggs roll. I put a towel around it so you can see better. I think I will bend it up a bit just to be on the safe side with my DD.

Hi. :frow

Egg laying is light triggered, hormone related not temperature. :)

Anyways, hope you like your egg skelter better than I do mine. :fl

Even after researching and getting one with good reviews... it doesn't roll when I remove the bottom egg without my encouragement to the others. Some roll end over end instead of on their sides. And then it scrambles them Or somehow makes ALL of our yolks week and pop when they plop into the pan. Never had that issue before or since. Since we don't like eating all of our eggs scrambled, it's been sitting on a shelf with zero eggs in almost a year now probably. I hate it so bad... I haven't even given it away or donated it. :hmm

Lovely idea! :thumbsup
Bad reality for me. :(

I got an inexpensive plastic skelter. You put it together yourself and so you can make it various sizes. i left off some of the sections so it would fit under the bottom shelf of my fridge....it's very easy to clean:

@EggSighted4Life Post a pic so others won't buy the same one.
and yeah I know it is light triggered but they are only 10 months and not liking the "White stuff" with the cold air either ;) And I don't like the cold cold either so I am making excuses for them
Oh gosh, short cold spell are OK... but definitely not my preference either. Who can blame y'all?! I'm sending warm vibes your way. :D

I will come back & post it in a bit. That's a good idea. :pop

@SueT I really didn't like the look of the green one when I was shopping for them. The eggs do dress it up a bit! :love

But how well does it function? That is what is most important to me. How long have you been using it for? Do you make any of eggs fried and ever have issue with yolk popping that really shouldn't otherwise? Any issue with the lip being to shallow?

It looks like it will do a nice job of accommodating different sized eggs. And being able to adjust the height is huge!

Wait... your using yours in the fridge... where you don't have to look at it on the counter! Hmm... :pop

I've had it more than a year. It works fine. No problem with eggs rolling out or anything. It seems to be a good design.
It's functional, obviously not for decor. I wanted to be able to use the eggs in order laid, that's all. And a skelter is the easiest way to do that.

btw, The eggs are normal, not 'popped' when opened...but with any skelter, I'd suggest don't start a new egg at the very top if there's a distance to roll, just carefully set it in there next to the previous egg. (it's not like a marble race....:p)

Yes that is the reason we got ours. But I guess maybe didn't consider keeping them in the fridge. Tough choice which space is more available.

So they ALWAYS come rolling towards the bottom when you remove a single egg? Never a stuck one holding the line up that causes that marble race when gently budged?

A year is good long time to very familiar with the reality and not just the novelty! Glad to here it has been good for you. :)

Usually they just automatically roll into place. But I have occasionally had one get stuck, and then I would gently encourage the whole line to move...if I have time tomorrow I can do a little demo video.

I didn't have to make a video of the plastic skelter...someone else already did...from putting together to filling and using it.....the little girl learns why not to start them at the top, lol.
It looks like there are videos of many different types of skelters.
