Egg Song! Glorious Egg Song!

2nd day, 2nd egg. IN a nest box this time. I set up the boxes yesterday and voila I was rewarded this morning.

and the two oldest are singing their hearts out.

Your girls and mine must be on the same "timeline" @tntchix !! Got my first one on Tuesday (at the foot of the little ramp to the pophole) and Wednesday for my second one IN the nest box, too! Nothing Thursday, got one yesterday...still waiting on today...wish my other three ladies would get their fuzzy-butts in gear!!

I got my first egg!!! My barred Plymouth Rock started the egg song at 16 weeks, squatting at 17 and now my first egg at almost 18 weeks. I'm so excited!!!

I searched YouTube to hear the egg song. Now I realize what that means. I went up to the coop about 6 times in panic until I dismissed the racket as chickens being chickens. Thanks for sharing, now I know they are not just trying to get cardio out of this fat boy.

I can relate....my girls 'trick' me all the time!!

I knew there was a reason we "met" on here.

Since we don't know for sure, Trena thinks it's probably Midnight, the Sebright playing me, not the big girls as she has been singing to me every day weeks now. It's such a sweet little chatter. We'll see. I think the egg is too big for a bantam.

@tntchix i wish my sebright would get back to laying... she went broody last week we broke her (crazy chicken was trying to hatch a golf ball) but no eggs since... i miss her cute little eggs in the nesting boxes!

I am getting an egg a day, (day5) but back in the original spot between feeders, only 2nd day egg was in nest box.

Funny thing is, my tiniest chicken is the one who hangs out there all day. Miss sassafrass, the OEG bantam, who I mistook for a wellie. It's her favorite spot in the coop. But she would lay a cream colored egg, right? So I'm going with my Isa Brown. I just wish I could "catch" her in the act to know for sure. LOL

So exciting - my BPR laid her 1st egg today! She had a hard time with it & took a long time to finally have it. I think it might have been sideways or something. She went into the nest a bunch of times & would really carry on - to me it was like she was screaming. Then she'd come back out & franticly try to get out of the pen then back in the nest. I held her & messaged her vent area, then she'd run around some more, then back in the nest, & she finally had it - a little blood on the one end - that's why I think it was stuck. Funny, she is my biggest pullet & she's had the hardest time & smallest egg so far. Anyway, that's 4 out of 7 pullets paying rent now. Yippeeeee!

My BR is the biggest and also lays the smallest eggs... It's strange!
