Egg Song! Glorious Egg Song!

Moneypenny is a Silver Sebright. Tons of personality in a little bird :) love her to pieces!!!!!!!!! read up on them though... they are fliers... so they have to have a covered run... and yes even females crow (i had minor heart failure one morning when she did that ... then the next morning she laid an egg... and OMC those are the cutest little eggs!!!)

Oh boy, all 6 of my girls now use the dog door and come on the back porch and sing the egg song at the top of their lungs just to get me to come tell them to shush. We are aloud to have 4 hens as long as no one complaines, we expected to loose a few why we have 6, now my neighbor 5 houses down is complaining to me everytime they sing. He's threatening to call animal control on me, then they will make us get rid of them. Is there any way to get them to stop this begging behavior? I garden and clean the pool so I'm out with them for 3-4hrs a day, plus the kids are out playing or we take the dog out they stay quiet but 10min after we go inside they start up, even if I put them in there coop. Oh and only one is laying the rest haven't started

As for your neighbor? Why not give him a 6-pack or dozen fresh eggs...might just shut him up! Just thinkin' .........

:You said one is laying. Maybe they all are getting ready to lay and that's why they are noisy. I think they only crackle when they lay? Is there a rooster in the group? If so, then they are the noisy ones.
 
No rooster thank goodness. 3 should've been laying already, they squat and have bigger wattles and comb than my layer but nope. I know who lays cause she will hold it till I'm outside the run like the wind up in the coop and lay. I've seen her lay all her eggs, she's on day 13 with no break. My runt who doesn't really have much of a comb or wattles ran up and sat on the egg like she layed it:)
