Egg Song! Glorious Egg Song!

I've been out of town working for a week (Ventriloquist Convention.. Anyone from here there???) and totally missed the excitement of getting THREE EGGS A DAY and the 4 EGGS TODAY!!! I'm gonna have a just laid omelette in the morning :) I am told the new layer sang a glorious song for her first egg AND spent the night before camping out in the yard after coop lockdown. She (Nellie) is at the bottom of the pecking order. After a tortuous night of missing #6 and imagining the worst, my housemates and fellow chicken tenders found her foraging near the fire pit (City of Chicago!) at dawn.

Soon we will sometimes have 6 eggs a day.

Just got in from checking on the chickens in the barn. Two eggs and two pullets in the nests, singing the egg song along with several more pullets.....so I joined in!

PLEASE tell me I'm not the only one!

Here are the pictures I promised yesterday :) our first egg!! It was bigger than we expected but we're newbies lol. It was a double yolker and we cooked a sore bought egg to compare it to. It was SO awesome :) we're hoping to find another one today when we get home from church. We'll see what happens.

No rooster thank goodness. 3 should've been laying already, they squat and have bigger wattles and comb than my layer but nope. I know who lays cause she will hold it till I'm outside the run like the wind up in the coop and lay. I've seen her lay all her eggs, she's on day 13 with no break. My runt who doesn't really have much of a comb or wattles ran up and sat on the egg like she layed it:)
That's cute. We just got our first egg from a 23 week Barred Rock. Others are same age, but no eggs yet.
