Egg Song! Glorious Egg Song!

After weeks of the egg song and no eggs, a few days ago she started to squat. Today I heard the egg song... Didn't rush thinking she was crying wolf again. And found my first egg!! Miss Dot is 20 weeks old

- way to go Dot!

So, I sent a text home to my son (partner in chicken crime, lol) asking how the girls were today, if we had any eggs, etc -- and the little buggar texted back with, "Yes, 2 so far this morning- and one is a surprise....wait until you get home" -- that just isn't fair....I still have hours left here at work (this was around lunch time) and I am ridiculously anxious to rush home for an egg, lol. I really think it is one of the two EE - he and I have both been waiting for them to start laying to see what color eggs we'll get

tell him "pics or it didn't happen" and tell us what happens.

We got our second egg this morning :) so far our Cloud is the only one laying. Hopefully she teaches the rest of the girls the ropes. We did get an egg song this morning though (after we had already connected the egg). About 3 Girls were singing together along with our little bantam roo lol. It was very cute :)

I have a precious little Delaware that's 4.5 months old (not even close to laying) that sings the most beautiful egg song. She sings when she gets mad at one of the roosters. When he chases her (cause he's totally in love with her and she hates him right now) and she gets away without inciden, she:lau runs up in the coop and sings louder than any of my hens that lay! She's hilarious.... I think she's singing the "you can't catch me" song!!!:lau

So, it wasn't a pretty EE egg......but that's okay because it was the first full-sized egg - that's today's egg from Fat Amy next to one of her eggs from a few days ago and yesterday's first egg from my SLW which is about the size of Amy's first too

Yes my eggs were small too.... I think I read where they get bigger as they continue to lay...
This is funny, well, my only layer, of 3 eggs started eating like she's never ate before. I gave her kale, then her sister came up and couldn't get enough. My other chicks weren't interested. I think our second layer will be the sister to our first layer. It's a homone thing just like us gals.

Keep you posted, if this is a sign of eating greens, then I'll let yu know.
