Egg Song! Glorious Egg Song!

My four beautiful Black Australorp ladies gave me four beautiful eggs today...

You must be very proud. Them girls are synched up. How old are they exactly?
They were born April 1st. I've never had Black Australorps before and I knew they are considered a large breed, but holy cow! They are big girls!!

But they aren't intimidating at all, quite the contrary. They are the most docile, friendly, loving things ever...and talkers? Boy, can they TALK!!

I'm still waiting for one more hen to sing the egg song and give us an egg. 1 left or of 13 isn't bad lol but now we have our first broody! Our 6 month old OEGB laid an egg yesterday and decided that was it and she's staying in that box. I kicked her out once and took her egg but she was back in there about a half hour later and hadn't moved since (that was yesterday). Right now she's sitting in a plastic egg. I have 3 eggs waiting to give her. I'm just waiting for my BCM pullet to lay lay one more then I'll give them to her. I think 4 should be plenty for a tiny little first timer bantam lol

I'd give her as many as you think she can set on.
She'll be there for three weeks not laying and blocking a nesting box.. May as well get as many chicks as you can.
I learned that when TWO of my 5 month Cuckoo Marans went broody at the same time. I gave them each 6 eggs, but wish I'd given them a dozen each. 9 hatched but I've lost two, so down to 7 chicks.

I have one BR whose comb is all reddened up and she's singing up a wicked little egg song.
I'm thinking by the end of the month maybe, although the Silver Leghorn has the same look but doesn't make a sound. LOL
My OEGB has looked and sounded ready for a while, but alas, nothing yet. She is so tiny, I cannot wait to see her egg, if I ever find it.

Midnight, my mystery has been singing from the day we put them in the coop, but doesn't really have a comb, at least not colored.

It's funny, I have 5 different breeds and only one of each even looks close to getting ready to lay. Odd for 25 hens. *ponders*
