Egg Swiping at Shows

I have even seen some exhibitors grab eggs from their own pens and shake the heck out of the egg and return it to the cage.
...
Let me guess, they were postal workers??

HA! Good One! Hahahahaha!

*ahem* that is not respectful, or fair to the good ones, but in all fairness, after losing 22 of the 27 chicks we were sent earlier this week, I feel that!

I tend to agree, I think there might only be one person I know who has ever knowingly not stolen anything. accidentally took one of those counter pens home once and felt so bad she worried about it all night until she could take it back the next day. (btw, the stuff in bold is mine)

I once saw a judge pull a giant standard Cochin hen out of a pen and a baby chick fell out onto the floor. I never heard of broodies being shown since they are not always in the best of feathers but I can see where a baby chick could get lost in a enourmous ball of feathers. I also had someone put a hen in the same pen as mine for unknown reasons...Same breed, different variety but it was MY pen. Luckily they did not mind each others company at all

That is funny! I have to shake my broody Silkie to make sure none of the chicks are stuck up in her somewhere, but it never occurred to me that I might miss one and take it to a show!

The funny thing was that the chick had to have been stuck in there from the breeder's pen to the carrier, and then show pen, without anyone knowing it. Normally they kick people out of the aisle while judging but I asked permission to watch. I thought I was seeing things. It only was a day or two old but looked like a buff Cochin chick.
