Egg too small, duckling pipped, struggling to breathe, no noise, day 28 - pic attached

How's #5
Yay !!!
We had another one at midnight
That’s 4 out of 5
Baby 5 I’m praying he is going to pull through. He has hit veins as the bruising has gone all over the egg. We have no idea where the beak is but can see breathing movements from the body at the lower part of the air cell
Made a safety hole in the first bruise Yesterday morning but last night at midnight after the other hatched I checked on him and we saw all the bruises. If he is still going this morning I will start trying to find his beak and make a bigger hole for him then slowly assist hatch.
How is #5 doing? These little ones are so spicy! I hope you and baby duck are ok 😊

Awww. Poor guy. Sending positive thoughts his way 👍
He was hardly breathing when I got there
I made the choice to pull his neck and head out he still has 75% of his shell left so he is nicely sitting in it inside a bowl with paper towel
He was not in the air cell at all so he was pushed into that little bit if egg
No wonder he struggled
I see some yolk left and he finally settled and is now breathing normal and chewing properly
Hopefully our little guy keeps going this good and he will hatch no problem

Phew! Good catch!!! Poor little fella 🙏

It's this normal? All the other ducklings are the regular Rouen colors. But this one is completely black feathered with jet black feet and his bill is shorter than the others. It's slight more narrow too. Can't find a tan spot on him. Hahaha. I have his parents and both are typical Rouens

I think he's gorgeous. I've only had Rouens ducklings, so he is a special treat for me. Too bad he won't stay like this ☹️

He sure is beautiful
Could be some genetic gene down the line that cane out with just him ?
