Egg too small, duckling pipped, struggling to breathe, no noise, day 28 - pic attached

You treat this just like an internal pip
24 hours. Because he skipped that step by going ti the wrong end you have to treat it like it is
But because he has air to breath and the hole is right by his beak I would give him more time to try and do it on his own
@WVduckchick maybe better to ask
I had to help as mine was not able to get out but her beak wasn’t coming in and out she was stuck
Yours did make the crack on its own so baby maybe able to zip out

It could just be crazy at this point, but I think he's trying to break out. His chirp has gotten louder and stronger and clearer through the hole. And this is the part that could just be wishful thinking.... I hear what sounds like pecking at the hard shell from inside the egg. It's different from the original ticking type sound I could hear right before he internally picked. I've got the pom poms back out but haven't touched him

Unfortunately my little buddy didn't make it. I waited too long. His 24 hours was up 20 minutes ago. When I took him out to start working on him he was gone .

He was moving around an hour ago. He regularly took naps so I thought that's what he was doing. I started steaming the bathroom and getting things prepared to go in and get him, but he passed while I was doing that.

He never did unzip, but he did break just a little more away at the hole.

I took him out and tried to revive him but it did not work. He also still had yoke left that was not absorbed.

Agreed. I'm hoping the rest go well. I've been prepared since the beginning that some would probably not make it, but he was just so close! Missed him by an hour to get him out. But part of me wonders if he'd have made it even if he did get out. He was not dried out inside and there didn't seem to be a reason for him to pass.

I finally have some good news! The next egg has hatched, and he did it (almost) by himself. Took an extra day, but he did it!

I have him in a clear bin so that the other 2 can see him, but not harm him

I have a new baby born last night too He also almost did it himself till he decided to get twisted while turning and start zipping towards the end of the egg not around the egg.
He was fully absorbed and ready to go
We have 3 more with external pips so anytime for them

Congrats!!!! He's beautiful!!!!!! I hope the others don't need help

And I bet he's feeling lucky that his mom knows how to do these things. Hehe
