A word of encouragement for the cross beak- I have one that is doing great. I provide her with a deep dish of food and she has to work harder than the others to eat, but so far so good. She was so skinny when I rescued her from the group of 'normal' chicks but now she is filling out.
Mom2emall... what a beautiful bird! You just can't help but love that little face!
My Little cross beak is doing good too... I really am blessed! These little babies have completely turned my world upside down in a day, but for the better. DH and I couldn't be happier they fell on our laps! I'm getting all emotional! Talk to me a year from now and we'll have all "special needs" birds in our flock! LOL! Of course we just wanted hens for laying but if these little fuzzies turn out to be roosters we'll have to keep them! But they are not breeding birds, just pets. We'll have to seperate them from the ladies.
Should I inform the seller from ebay of my "problems" with her eggs? I did have a good hatch 7/11 but 2 were unhealthy.
The problems with the chicks could have just as easily been some issue with the incubation process as the eggs themselves. 7 of 11 is not a bad hatch rate.
Of course, the breeder may want to know in case this is some trend...
I am glad to hear your little guy is doing better!!
