Lots of people hand turn them...I did. Lay them on their sides and draw an x and o on each side. Turn them at least 3 times a day preferrably 5 but always alternate between an even and odd number. Its ok to open the bator to do it. Just make sure if its a still air that you adjust the temp for it to be 101 at the top of the egg. Its a pain but doable. I hear that people raise the incubator with a book but I prefer to do it by hand. I have an auto turner now, and actually miss hand turning them.

you could un screw the motor 2 screws i think... tie some string to where the motor moved the rail and have the string go to the outside of the bator, then just pull on the string to turn the eggs.

Thanks you guys, I feel much better having your advice. I have put the eggs in egg cartons - fat side up, and I will use books to prop up the incubator changing it three times a day.
