One of my white leghorns did lay an egg this morning and there was blood all over it. A few hours later I found an egg without shell and some blood with it. I know it was the same chicken.
Does anyone know what's going on or what I should be doing?
Any help is welcome for this newbie

How old is she?

If she is a new layer, then it's possible that she is just getting into the swing of things. It's not uncommon for new layers to rupture small blood vessels when beginning to lay and some blood to be on an egg.

Shell less eggs can also due to laying young.

If she continues to have soft shell or bloody eggs, then you need to investigate further.
Provide oyster shell free choice for extra calcium.
