Eggs are HERE Incubator hasn't even been shipped

Just go to tractor supply and buy one for $30-$40.... Thaey work just fine and you wont have to hastle with making one. If the eggs were shipped then you don't know how old they are already, so you need to put them in an incubator soon...Good Luck
:aww

I got my 1588 from cutler on thursday. Last week when cutler told me they were backordered, I found a hovabator on eggcartons.com. It was not a 1588, but it was the one with the fan and small windows. I was desperate I ordered it, got shipped that day and recieved it late the next day. It was not express and I placed me eggs in there. The 1588 took only about 2 hours to get up to temp and running amazing accurate. I had eggs in a lg that was ready to go to hatcher so they are in there right now for a hatch day on sunday.

I don't think we've got a TS around here. Anyway, I just got back from WalMart with two different electric skillets. I'll plug them both in and see which one does the best temp wise....I also brought back 3-4 different humidity gauges which I will put in bags with salt....and then I'll probably just boil the darn eggs and get it over with:lol:

I ordered from GQF a week ago and they charged my CC that very same Friday I ordered it. It should be here by today or possibly Monday at the latest. My eggs are being shipped on Monday so I have a few days to get it running and set before I have to set the eggs. I hope your eggs make it! Everything i have read says to store them between 50 and 60 degrees for no longer then 10 days. You should be ok as long as the incubator cooperates! I would be freaking! lol I have to have things in order or I would have a nervous breakdown! lol If I don't get my incubator by Monday I'm going to start to worry!

I've never been able to keep my things all in order, so I shouldn't be surprised that I'm in this pickle at this time. It seems to be a constant in my long life. This is just another example of me being impulsive instead of planning...

OK lol should I be buying a surge protector???? What are you using it for. Now I'm freaking lol I have never seen anyone mention it before.

this is going to sound totally stupid, and not intended as advice! lol. But when I was a kid... I used to put my hatching eggs in the fridge for 1-2 weeks while I collected all the eggs I wanted to hatch, and then let them warm up to room temp, and stuck them in the 'bator. I never had a bad hatch... I probably only hatched 5-6 batches this way though.

Any idea why my eggs were not DEAD, as it seems from what I've learned here that they should be?

Surge protectors are for electricity spikes. Kinda like when you turn on your hairdryer and the lights in the house go dim then go bright for a second.... It just helps the incubator maintain a steady temp by stopping a spike in electrical wattage.

Wow well I guess it depends on how fresh the eggs are, what temp the fridge is at, and how much moisture is in the fridge.... I think it did probably kill a few or at least slow development. You could still get a good hatch doing that but it just adds a little more of a chance of a bad hatch. Were they standard eggs? I have seen that standard eggs fair better than bantams with temps Has anyone seen this themselves?
