Eggs are mostly yolk

I think I will switch to pelleted foods so they can't pick through the grains, maybe that's keeping them from getting proper nutrition.

If you want to feed S&P I recommend either fermenting it or at least wetting it as that will reduce waste and ensure that they're eating the vitamins and protein fines in the mix.

I've had pullets every other year, sometimes every year now for quite a few years now. I haven't ever bothered to worry about a pullet egg. (except to giggle at some of the weirdness) Why? Because for the first 3-4 months they just don't "get it right". Double yolks, giant eggs, eggs with no yolk. Those are big yolks your getting but hey at least you got a yolk. Last year I had one little Barred Rock hen who laid yolkless eggs for about a month. Was getting pretty worried about her then she laid a giant egg with one giant yolk. She finally got it figured out!
Heck, my Astralorps from this spring are just now getting settled, ... just in time to stop laying during winter rest:barnie.
Give them a few more months to settle.

My little speckled chicks had big yolks my Easter eggers. One her shells are alway ruff. Don’t know why. At first they were smooth. Is that a problem. The egg inside is fine. The other ones eggs a smooth.

In my first Flock of five Golden Comets, one laid eggs with a rough shell, felt like sandpaper. She laid rough eggs all her life. The eggs from the others were smooth, but different shades.
My second Flock of five Barred Rocks lay smooth eggs most are cream color one lays a brown egg with lots of bloom. I can wash off the bloom and color. Egg is good inside. 20190814_075544_resized.jpg . Barred Rock eggs from August, when laying was good. I'm only getting one egg a day on average this month. GC

Oh, I was expecting to see a raw egg.
This only shows part of the 'picture'.

X2

Without the raw egg picture it is impossible to tell how much white is around that yolk (above and below).

I’m still curious to see that raw egg. Maybe crack it into a pan so we can see how the albumen spreads out. No real reason, just think it would be cool to see.

breed is Ameuraucana - and it's mostly large, beautiful orange yolk with a little albumin (egg white). The polish hens I have also have smaller albumin vs. the yolk
I've had a small flock of Ameraucana since 2016 & it seems to be a breed thing. When we collected the 1st eggs, I'd thought it was because they're just starting to lay, but we've had Barred Rocks, Partridge Chanteclers & have traded eggs with neighbours, & the Ameraucana eggs have HUGE yolks in comparison. On the bright side, they're wonderful for baking & just eating

Would anyone have a clue why all my girls are laying good strong shelled eggs but one? Someone is laying eggs with no shell at all. She lays it on the coop floor and not in a nest. They are getting larger with a beautiful yolk....but no shell. Any ideas of what I need to do to correct this one girl?
