Eggs, but no egg song!

My roo not only sings the egg song for our girls but he will get in the nest with who ever is ready to lay, then sing the egg song when the egg appears. Now our girl will bawk every now and then but nothing even close to the egg song other then that they growl. Now here is the funny part I had plan to sale all the roo's that I had at a Saturday auction. The day before I heard one roo sing the egg song and then that afternoon we got our first egg. Let just say we kept that one roo. LOL

the only time i get an "egg song" is when my roos see a buzzard or hawk. the first time i heard it i was excited thinking i was going to get my first egg but no deal. few days later i was outside when it happened and the roos were watching a buzzard circling and singing the egg song lol.

The egg song drives me nuts! It gets old in my opinion..but it also let's my 3yo know it's time to go check for eggs!

The "danger, watch out" song and the egg song are almost identical. Makes me wonder if the hen thinks there's danger cause she laid an egg. LOL

i always thought that the egg song was a defensive mechanism. she would lay in her hidden nest then go away from it and basically say "here i am you don't want to go over there." try to lead predators away from the nest till she had enough eggs to set.
