Eggs from the supermarket

Lol It's ok. I wasn't expecting anything really, but as with hatching anything, you might not expect it, but you really, really hope it will hatch!

Do you breed, what have you got?

Mr. Nappy :

We incubated 24 Trader Joe's fertile eggs last year, and hatched 12 pure White Leghorns.

No way!!!!! :O

Well we decided to bin the eggs. Clearly nothing was happening. I'm working on gearing my OH up to another hatch once these chicks are out the house, so I might yet get to test the new humidity unit!

no i dont breed i have 1 warren that i have just found out it's a roo and as to go, 2 silkies all 3 6 weeks old.

I went to the supermarket a couple of days ago and they didn't have any cage free or free range eggs. Those shelves were empty so I will go in town today and check again.

Seems to me if the carton isn't labeled "Fertile" (like the TJ carton posted earlier) you're wasting your time. Free range =/= fertile.

I remember seeing bulls-eye on the organic eggs i bought, i can't remember what brand they were (thankyou, great memory) but they came in a clear carton and they were brown.

I am hoping maybe some of the cartons are marked "Fertile Eggs" like the ones from Trader Joe's. I am going to look anyway. A dozen eggs are around $2.50 a dozen here so I won't loose much.

I have found no law saying that fertile eggs MUST be marked as fertile, in the UK. They must have a whole lot of other info on the box, but not whether they are fertile or not. I would imagine 'fertile' might put some people off...
