Lots of chicks in the next few hours then... so exciting this bit3rd pip. Wow today. 3 pips on day 19.
Yes but I don't think these eggs are small. Medium to large so I don't know why others are pipping on day 19. I thought only bantams pipped on day 19. I wonder if it's because I dry incubated.Lots of chicks in the next few hours then... so exciting this bit
I don't know if they can, but I had an enthusiastic chick standing on one's head literally at the moment it hatched and I decided to put the dry one in the brooder. I usually give single chicks a sock full of dry rice or just a sock to snuggle on. Your incubator has lots of room for them to move though, and mine was a tiny incubator so the new chick really couldn't move w the other one on top. Congrats on your healthy chicks!Update, the one with the large hole literally exploded out!.... just popped the whole top off in one wriggle! My over zealous first chick is rather pleased too see it.
Question: can chick 1 injured chick 2? Looks like she's smothering it sometimes![]()
I open my incubator to remove dried chicks or egg shells, and have yet to have a shrink wrapped chick. However, my house is 65-70+ humidity so that probably influences it.I also worry about opening the incubator too much... and shrink wrapping my other pippers. When I have opened it I always mist and the humidity rises within seconds... temp drops a degree or two and probably takes a minute to rise
Yay chicks!!!!Had 10 pipped eggs and was going to call it a night. I went in to brush my teeth and heard a lot of noise. One egg that I hadn't even seen a pip was already zipping!! The first pipped egg was also starting to zip. It went so quickly but we now have 2 chicks hatched.
Maybe the condition you incubated made them pip earlier... I don't know. I'm no expert. Hoping for healthy chicks for you.I now have 7 pipped eggs here on day 19. Unbelievable. Number 7 looks a bit low for a pip so I'm going to keep my eye on that one.
Yay. No sleep for you now! .... I did go to bed eventually but crept down at half 3 to inspect what was happeningHad 10 pipped eggs and was going to call it a night.
