Eggs in Lockdown! Hatching Blog

I made the mistake, when my Muscovy were sitting, to count my eggs before they hatched. So right now, I'm just sitting with my fingers and toes crossed (and getting lots of toe cramps) and just hoping.

I'm in no rush. Really. I keep repeating this to myself. No rush, babies, take the time you need to come out healthy.

I'll start freaking out tomorrow. :)
They really hatch when they are ready not when we are :)
Day 28 is a go to but not a has to be
Many factors can cause early to late hatches
The schools do hatches from my group and one teacher was taking her eggs home on weekends
The travel may have caused an early hatch as I have read the vibration can set them off early not wanting to be left behind
She had first one hatch day 24 and all hatched by day 26 early morning
She got 100% hatch rate
I used the same set up days later without changing any settings and my batch came days 27-29
Same parents same set up

I... think I see a pip. And external pip! And one of the eggs definitely was moving around. I have numbers 1 2 3 written on them for turning purposes, and they were all on the 1. this particular egg is on 2!
I told you some make you question if your loosing your mind
I swear I set that egg here and now it’s there lol
Exciting news :)

I just candled them, all of them are alive and active, some more than the others. I swear, one looked like a sea monkey, with all those little swimmy parts underneath!

The one egg appears to have a pin hole crack at the fat end, but I don't see an internal pip. It's been like that for a couple of days. But since the duckling is alive, I'm not worried. Humidity is nice and high, so it shouldn't affect the membrane.

They are doing this on purpose, I know it!
