Eggs zipping!

Look for shadows in the air cell or movement. Shadows indicate internal pip. You may see movement in the aircell too unless its resting. If no movement, check again in a few hours if no change in the crack.
If you see fluid its quit. I hope this is not the case. :fl
No internal pip but you see movement, its good. First or last scenario: put it back and watch and do laundry, clean out closets.. anything to keep busy! :D :hugs
Second scenario: toss it, and I suggest far outside if possible! :sick

Congratulations .:highfive:They're so cute when they're that little aren't they?

Did you try candling the cracked egg? What do you think?

My kids are grown but my oldest grandson loves animals too. I hope he's here when our quail hatch next week. This is only the second time I've used an incubator, we have a hovabator.

No I didn't candle the egg, I was getting set up to and when I went back it looked like more cracked and I thought it moved, as well as another one so I figured I'd be best to wait a bit so I don't lose humidity, although I had a small piece of a hot wet sponge i usually thow in there quick if I open it, I find the sponge counteracters the few degrees in humidity I noticed i was losing any time I opened it, then when humiidity gets back to where it was i quick brab the sponge out...lol yes I am also using a hovabator, still air, 16 yrs old and i have only used it once to hatch ducks eggs when I bought it, this is first time with chickens! I have read so much in the last 6 mths prior to even doing this that my head is spinning with information and I can't remember crap..lol I think I may have read to much! Do u eat the quail, raise for pets or do u release them? I don't know much about them is why I'm asking..not sure if u can even answer here so no worries if u can't. I'm keeping an eye on those 2 eggs now, the weird crack one i thought i heard so i will wait to candle it but will definetly candle it and check for what @Fields Mountain Farm said to look for! Don'twanna jump the gun if it may do worse!

Patience is definitely a good thing. I agree it's likely the bator and hope those dark eggs hatch for you! I bet you're on pins and needles.

We are going to raise the quail for meat and eggs, totally new experience. Our chickens have been eggs only but if my little NN chick is a roo I'll be hatching some eggs to give him some bigger girls to breed for meat too.

What about you?
