Eggs zipping!

ok will do..i am watching them closely tonight, 2 are very dark brown and i think one of them may be the rotten egg but still cant figure that out, then there's a very light blue one which i know was alive 2 days ago, the other light blue hatched great at 18 days, then there's a large white one, a large light brown one and a dark olive one. I hope they hatch as I'm pretty sure they were viable when i candled them at 18 days, the dark broend i was never able to see into really

So these are the last 7 eggs...opinions? I know they're not great pics but i don't think any are alive...i don't know what happened...i want opinions before i toss them, today is only day 21 but no activity like the others. Should i open them all before i ross them?

There are a couple in there that I might not toss, but some look like they never developed at all, and some are definitely gone.

File names 011348 and 011311 (the 6th and 13th pics) look like the only possibilities to me.

I’m sorry it wasn’t a great hatch, but I bet you learned a lot for your next try!

Yes those file numbers are actually one egg, a small blue one, i actually accidentally cracked that one last nite putting it back, it was late i was tired, i candled them quick and bamm i tapped it by accident, but not at the pipping at, it had a little piece if shell crack off at the pointy end, the membrane was intact though so i put it back in and left it until i was able to read any responses this morn. So u think i should just leave that one egg in there for another day or so and toss the others? Now that i cracked the only one that looks at all possible did i ruin it? Im pissed at myself..i should have just left them and did it today instead of when i was exhausted and half asleep. My 5 chicks are fairly quiet this morn is that normal? They seem to play and sleep in spurts but they are crazy active today, they look ok just hanging together in their little straw nest together, they don't look weepy or anything just quiet. Thanks

Breaking a piece off probably didn't hurt at this point, so don't beat yourself up about that. Did you see or feel any movement in it? I feel like its safe to toss the rest, maybe save 11048 with it. Or since the other chicks are a couple days old now, if you want to toss these, I don't think anyone would blame you.

If you decide to open any of the eggs, I usually pop the air cell end with the back of a spoon, then peel the air cell away gently. Always keep checking for any movement inside. Wet the membrane and feel with the tip of your finger for any activity. Then you can usually tell if its safe to break into the membrane.
A couple of those eggs were totally clear, looks like nothing at all developed, and some that quit very early, those will just have a little dead blob in them. If you don't want to open them, nothing says you have to. It may be educational to do it, but only if you want to.

Yup, a lot of duds, so sorry about that. :hugsBut you got some cutie pies out of the hatch and there is always next time. This hatching thing can be absolutely incredible and absolutely devastating too. It's also highly addictive, so be warned....:)
I think your chicks are just fine. Keep an eye out for pasty butt and make sure they have some vitamins in their water and chick grit mixed in with the feed. It just helps to keep their digestive system moving along.

I agree, don't beat yourself up over anything. We all have to learn somehow.

My first hatch I didn't know I had to calibrate my hygrometer or even how to do it. Found out it reads low and I probably screwed things up. I felt tremendously guilty. However, I learned a lot and because I tried again I've learned some more. You're doing great!

You also have adorable babies :love
