I'm so sad right now...
This is my first time hatching chicken, I had hatched quails before. I got 8 shipped eggs of variety breeds - maran, olive egger, cream legbar...
I used my homemade incubator (I bought a hova bator but couldn't get the temp up right). 7 days in, I tossed 2 infertile eggs. 14 days in, tossed another blood ring egg.
Because the temp has been low so my eggs didn't hatch on day 21. On day 24 (2 days ago) I did the floating test and all were moving except for one. Today I checked and there was a pip on one of the eggs. I WAS SO EXCITED. But the humidity was down to 55 which made me nervous. I kept checking up on the chick but I didn't see any movements or sounds. I decided to do an eggtopsy.
The inner membrane was white so I guessed it was dried out? But the chick didn't seem too dried out. It has positioned right too...I'm not sure what happened. I still have some eggs left and I'm kinda anxious right now. I should have gotten baby chicks instead and waited until I could get my hands on a Brinsea to try hatching. Hatching eggs is fun but when a chick can't make it, it's very heartbreaking

She had beautiful black down, would have been a beautiful girl.
