Electric blankets... anyone use them?

I have loved all of my electric blankets. I am on my third one, but have used them for probably 35 yrs.

I must say the dual control has saved my marriage. Of course, there was the one time that we got them switched and I kept turning my side up because I was cold, and my husband kept lowering his because he was hot.

All I can find are single controls on full size ones and I burnt out one side of this one and the other is getting iffy.

My house is very old. Some of the bedrooms are not heated.

Every bed has a feather bed, down comforter, quilt and electric blanket for the bitterly cold nights.

I LOVE electric blankets, but mine gave up the ghost finally,,, hmmmm who do I know that could give me a neat, warm, Christmas present.... hehehehhe
Anyway right now my bed warmers are called Valentino, Prints, Siskiyou, Jack-Jack, Miss Swan, Maximilian, and Angel.
I never had trouble with cats and dogs on my blankies either, no smoke or popping. Although I do have to tell you a quick funny story.
I have a blanket I love and it's acrylic, it's also NOT electric. One night I woke up and pushed the blanket back to get out of bed and it rubbed across itself causing sparks,, you know, harmless static electricity? Well silly me being half asleep and all grabbed my glass of water off the nightstand and threw it on the bed. Drenched two cats and a chihuahua, and my bed.....,, I slept on the sofa feeling pretty silly.

If I have to get in a cold bed with cold covers on a cold night, I yell and scream and cry for about two hours while trying to steal Anne's body heat under the pretense of "snuggling", so Anne and I use a dual-control electric blanket. She turns both sides on about thirty minutes before we go to bed so that she won't have to deal with my cold feet. That warms up the bed, and we turn it off once we get in. Neither of us want to feel like we're baking slowly with a blanket that's turned on over us. The warmed covers keep us nice and cozy for the rest of the night.

Stacey and I also have a dual control electric blanket thank god!

I don't usually like to sleep with any covers on me at all and when I do put them on in the middle of the night every once in a blue moon, I don't like it cooking like she does.

Dual Electric blanket here too!

First one lasted a year... maybe 2. This is our 2nd year with the one w e have now. It wasn't working great until we realized that I had the controllers messed up. Now that we have the right controllers, it's awesome!

DD has one too... she turns it off as she gets in to bed.

I ruined our first one I think by putting it in the dryer... or maybe the clothes line.. I can't remember.

We have no furnace, only use a pellet stove. I heat my comp room with a space heater. No heaters upstairs... only heat is what drifts up there. So the electric blankets are awesome!
