Electric fence

So basically your cutting in the black wire (hot) from the extension cord to the black wire to the light socket. Next the white wire from the light socket to the electric fence wire. Then take the white wire (neutral) from the extension cord and run it to the pen fence. Lastly, take the green wire and run it to a ground. Am I on the right track?!
That is correct!!! And since that is all that is on that breaker (at my house)the neutral has no load on it so it is just like a ground and will not electrocute anything.

My friend that is truly simple and amazing :thumbsup. I have 2 more questions sorry...lol. What are using as a ground and how did you connect hot wire to the electric fence wire? Solder and/or special connection?

I have the ground wire and neutral tied to the the small tie wire that is holding the fence wire to the post. All connections are made using yellow wire nuts. I try to keep it all simple.

Keeping it simple. That’s the only way to do! Thank you so much for all your advice. I plan to wire the fence this weekend and believe you me I will definitely post some pictures! I also checked out you video of your setup and your happy ducks playing away in your pond. I must be honest I was scoping out your filtration system. Maybe one of these days you would like to share designs. Finding a good filtration system is the holy grail of duck pond maintenance.

Some pictures of how mine is hooked up. I just twist the one for the gate around the loop that goes up on the pen as you see in the last picture.

That’s a pretty ingenious idea, but...
have you looked into the wiring codes in yOur area? I doubt anything similar to that would be legal. After that you might want to check your insurance policy and see if you’re still covered with a setup like that.

I have looked into the NEC codes to see if it is legal but it is protected with a 15 amp breaker. It can be easily removed if something happens and I need to call my insurance company.

The pictures look great! In of those pictures it looks like you have an electric fence charger under your setup. Was that part of your old setup?
Yes and it would not stop any predator that had much fur on it. A possum killed a female duck I had when he got in my pen. That is till I came home from work and shot him with my 9mm pistol.which is the reason I thought of this setup. My dad had used it to keep a grown bull in a pen when he ran the state dairy farm here in Magee.

I’ve read tons of post where the predator goes right through the fence even after being shocked. I’m not willing to take that risk and definitely not willing to spend tons $$$ for something rated for larger animals. A large (20-25lbs) male raccoon killed one of my girls and severely wounded three, leaving me the horrible task of putting them all down. I was able to trap him a week later and promptly dispatched him. We believe that this also was the coon that killed three of our chickens a few months earlier. Unfortunately, you can’t trap them all so I’m going with your design.
