Emergency...Chickens need help, food, water, electric lines down...

I know the electric company can't just drop everything and no my rescue friends don't know anything about stuff like this and i didnt figure ASPCA etc could not help me they'd just tell me to call my local electric company... only HOE can and they are busy...

Sorry it remains unresolved - glad to hear that your chickens can get out in the snow if they need water - hang in there...

we are sending positive thoughts your way...

If you have power to other buildings, then it probably isn't a power line from the utility pole, it is from your own pole - in which case you should be able to turn off that breaker and shut down that line.

Power lines come to a pole for each house where I live. We then have lines running from that pole to the breaker box and off to outbuildings, etc...

Might be expensive, but try calling an electrician, it may be a simple fix.

LM Eggs,

I see our club came together with ideas, the last person even sent someone to you.

Playing for you welfare and for your animals as well. Waiting to hear the outcome of all of this.

We all love our pets, but reality tells us they are just pets. At worse case basis, maybe members will send eggs your way when you are ready. That does not replace a love, but it can give you anew start.

You are in our hearts, please keep us informed.
If you can take pics, I would be interest in seeing what you are dealing with.

We do not have much snow out here, but I have my water trucked in and my electric comes from a gas powered generator (when it is working) I understand your challenges.

call the SPCA, say, you have animals with no water or food, i bet they will be able to help somehow.......wont hurt to try anyways..

I didn't see this thread when it was first posted. I am assumning the line issue was resolved? I hope so. This ice storm was HELL. We were without power for 9 days at my house and I was terrified I was going to lose some of my cold blooded critters. I know how scary it is thinking the little animals that depend on you could die and you are helpless to stop it. I hope your chickies were alright.

Hello everyone, LM Eggs has been busy but I got a PM to share with everyone.,,,

Hi!

after a week with no food or water they did come and fix the powerline and I didn't lose any birds! though I had some starved ones they were sooo happy to see me and they missed their heat/light lamps alot the power had knocked them out

I turned them ALL out to free range in the yard a few days! they are all completely better now and we have power and water but a ton of trees to clean out -sigh- but everyone is alright thank god!!

prayers DO work!Thank you and everyone else for the support when I was scared I might loose them and I should have updated you guys sooner but with all the downed trees and my fences and chicken houses needed repairing and busted water pipes its been hard to be on as much as I like!

Leeanna
