Emergency...Chickens need help, food, water, electric lines down...

You do not ned to know all that. just give your address and they know all the rest.

stay the hell away from that electricity!!!!!!

Well, this is untrue, HOE does not know your meter number even with the property address. There are shared lines. This is a secondary line if it terminates at the chicken house. The transformer will NOT switch on a secondary line. This is NOT my first rodeo with HOE. I am completely amazed that HOE has allowed this to happen and I am guessing it is because they do not have enough information.

Yes, do stay away from the power, I sure this is already established.

true, we had a chicken get accidently locked inside a car trunk for over a week.. she survived..

frustrating , isn't it?? not knowing if someone is going to "just try it" ?

I saw a back-hoe on a tractor hit a buried power line once. the operator was not hurt, but it blew a 6 inch hole right through the bucket.

I have a question? Is this wire coming from the house or from the main electric pole. I have a breaker in my basement that I can cut off power to all of my barns. Just my .02 I love my birds too, it is very hard to watch when you are helpless to do anything. Good luck, be safe an smart with your decisions

As everyone has stated stay as far away from the power lines as possible. I have a friend who now has 2 prostetics lost one arm most of his fingers on his other hand and one of his legs from the electricity of a train that Arked and hit him (long stupid story). My point is it can happen and it is horrible, when they found him he was still on fire. I think trowing food to them from a good distance and hoping that they can make it a few more days is the safest thing you can do. No matter how much you love you chooks you are more important and if you loose them I am sure we will all help you to replace them, you can not be replaced!

I am amazed. Do you have neighbors to help you in any way??

Will the authorities from T come to help you ? Do you have an animal shelter there in T ? Start asking for help at your local level, I have seen the national guard out in West Plains. Call your sheriffs office and explain your situation. L this is not good, I am having a difficult time with this disaster and you should be getting help in any way you can.

Since it has been a good while since the storm, I would think your local sheriffs office may help you. They have to know you and your situation.

Stay away from the line. The sheriffs office will come out if you think it is a danger to your animals.

There are too many "ifs". IF it is a wire coming from a large transformer
it CAN be live. Anyone without the proper electrical experience and
equipment needs to just stay away.

If the power company won't help consider calling the local Fire Department.
They may be able to help.

Its not real clear if these chickens are confined to a coop or if they have access to a run? If they are confined to a coop with no windows and no run access, I would say you should just pray for the best. If they can get out into a run, you can throw some feed from a distance and they may manage to obtain moisture from melt off.

Other than that, waiting it out is the only recourse. Its things like this that happen to prepare us for the chance that it may happen again. Now you will know how to prepare for the worst for this and future flocks!

Are there any line trucks in your area?

If there are make an appeal to the lineman. My husband is a lineman and during an ice storm has actually gotten on the back of a snowmobile with a chainsaw strapped to his back to help out someone.
Bring them hot coffee and ask you might be surprised. Lineman are usually pushovers.
