Emergency!!! I Have A Quail Down! Help!

Quote:
Abdomen feels small, but nothing out of the ordinary. I am beginning to think she may have boinked herself, the pen is 12inches tall, with foam around the "most" of the inside, except for an inch around the front were i ran out of foam.

I can only hope I am wrong. My 3 other quail are perfectly fine though

That's just "Occam's razor", my friend. I wish I could paint a more rosy picture for you, but I can't.

Sometimes they recover, but usually they don't. You will never like it, and hopefully don't get used to it, but accepting it and moving on works best for me.

update: This morning she was still alive. Moving feet a bit more then yesterday, gave her food and water, she still has an appetite and ate most of her food and drank water too. Will keep an eye on her and hope she recovers

day 3, quail still not standing, looking real sad and covered in her own poop, I been cleaning off some here and there.

I think I am going to have to euthenize her, as I dont have the heart to eat her, dont think paralized quail would taste good anyway.

Anyone know a painless way to put her down? I was thinking CO2 from a car?

most pain free way i've seen is finding the base of her spine where the skull connects, and just cutting there, best thing is with a pair of very good scissors, or a knife.

if you don't want to go that way, maybe like....heavy dose of pain pills?

i do believe base of the skull is fastest and most pain free way for the bird
