ok,so I don't feed anything and he won't need any water to drink till the vein is detached right?? (sorry, this is so scary) will he get stronger?
He has to be completely out of that shell before you worry about feeding and giving him something to drink. If he's head isn't up, he will drown. Don't even worry about him right now, let him do his thing..

The only way that vein is going to dry up is getting that humidity lower and temp up. I've help SEVERAL different types of ducks out of the shell and as long as his head is out. Your already a step ahead of the game. Once he is out he will be very weak but don't give him anything until he is able to lift his head, if it's been over 48 hours and his head still isn't up then your gonna have to hold his head up and try to give him some vitamins but I'm sure by the time that happens he will be activity running around.. And boy are they cute when they fluff up..

Once he's out, wait 24 hours for him to fluff up then put him in a broody, you could try to give him to his mommy but chances are she'll most likely reject him and attack him. So be prepared to raise him yourself. If he is a loner, you might want to have a stuffed animal prepared because they don't like to be the only one. And remember, since your raising him, don't let him swim for at least ONE week. Very important. He can put his feet in the water but don't let him full body swim...

a little egg yolk mashed into some warm water you could try and getting him to drink a lil water also, if you have some kind of poultry vitamin add that to his water also. sure is a cutie and a fighter.

It's your Flooring, he should be on a wire floor until he gains control of his legs. I wouldn't feed him or give him water, I would give him some Vitamins, like I had suggested earlier. Just give him a couple of drops of Polyvisol diluted with water. One drop of poly mixed with one drop of water. He's got to get strength in his legs and he's not able to because the paper towel is to slippery for his webbed feet.
