An owl got into the coup last night and sadly took out 8 of my chicken and injured a couple more. The one injury has me seriously troubled though and I need help fast as I'm new to chickens and have no one here with me. I checked on the remainder of chickens and one is acting really odd. The bird is moving ever so slow but isn't moving much at all just standing still in the middle of the yard next to the water. It seems extra tense and it's neck is puffed up slightly. It looks like an owl tried to get it but only got feathers as you can see they are missing from a spot on her back. I don't see injuries and the chicken does not react as if it were injured to touch. Slightly tries to move away, as normal but it's different this time. Her eyes are closing and I noticed a tremor that looked normal chicken behavior at first but now you can see is clearly her body shaking and tensing up more as her eyes keep closing. I can get her to drink a little water and she took a couple bits of food out of my hand but she hasn't moved since. Somebody please help me I don't wanna lose this chicken. My dad says she may be in shock but this just seems really odd to me.

Yes, she probably is in shock. I would suggest taking her into a small, quiet place like a dog kennel for a few days so she can recover from the stress.

The more water she drinks the more life it looks like she has. Not much though. She'd never let me pick her up but I just grabbed her with ease and placed her alone for a little. The eye shutting thing is really worrying me though because she keeps popping them back open right away like she's fighting something. Would I know if she had a broken back or neck?

Her neck isn't normally tense like this either

Once you get her in side you can keep a better eye on her and since she’s letting you touch her you can look for any obvious injuries to the neck and take it from there. Sounds like shock but you know you chicken better than anyone so I can understand worried. She inside yet? I’m sorry about your others

Well I panicked a little she is back in the coup for now but I'm worried that might not feel the safest to her so I'm going to set her up an area in the garage with a heat lamp as she seems cold, which is definitely leading me to believe it to be just shock. I will post on here if anything happens and she needs more care but as the morning settles it seems she might be as well.

Is there anyway she can stay in the house... do you maybe have a kennel or anything she can use. I was just thinking the house would be easier too monitor how she acting Probably better to separate her for now

I can't put her in the house but the garage is a perfect spot and I have a nice cage setup with shavings and heat, she's comfy. But anyways she is doing a little better to the naked eye. But one problem her eggcracked inside her because I've been noticing her doing this clenching movement and runny stool. Come back 20 min later to find the contents of the yoak on the floor. What do I do??

Get a disposable glove and a little vegetable oil or vaseline to lubricate a finger. Insert a finger inside her vent about 2 inches, and search for remnants of shell or membrane to get them out. Is her head twisted down or to the side a bit? If so, she might have wry neck which can be common with head or neck injuries. Make sure that she is taking some water when she is able. Wry neck is treated with vitamins, such as E, thiamine, and a little chopped egg for selnium. Poultry NutriDrench has all 3, so give 3 ml daily. Sorry about your othe chickens.

I've been forcing water down her. Now she is starting to eat some oyster shells and corn until i get moving to the store here in a minute. She seems much better though you can just really see her pushing hard. And she freaked out a little and I couldn't feel anything in there. It's been at least 12-14 hrs since the attack and she just passed the yoak. Should I be worried about this going overnight and her not making it. My plan is check her a couple more times before the evening. Would it have a chance of passing naturally? She doesn't seem shocked to where I was worried about her anymore just really grumpy trying to push.
