Unfortunately the bird died before I could get him anywhere or call any of our local wildlife rehab centers.

Put him in the fridge and send him for testing. Avian flu should be ruled out.

EDIT to add - So, how did you weather the storm? I hope the brunt of it missed you. Those beasties are NASTY!
