Emergency -- sick cat please help

Good to be wary and careful! If you’re not close to him and he doesn’t trust you then extreme caution is warranted. Even animals you know when injured or sick can be very dangerous.

We had a “stray” cat in my old neighborhood that survived the coyotes and dogs (I don’t know how) for the seven years we lived there... I got him to trust me, and was able to pet and groom him and remove his fur matts when he started to let himself go. He actually “belonged” to the family three houses up, but was fully outdoors, and fed by everyone else.

We've called animal control and they're sending someone out. I'm eating some quick lunch because I'm just getting shakey and am pretty hungry lol I get far too invested in every little animal

I need to quickly clean out our carrier I can try to put towels out in it and see if he wants to walk in in a minute.

I am keeping my distance since I know the dangers.

He does seem scared of us ans totally out of it, but I agree. Whereas the one other stray cat I've befriended let's me pet him, Skitters (the sick cat) has always remained wary of me, even after months!

That's cute, it's always so rewarding to have a wary animal trust you. :)
