Yes she was stretching her neck out with beak open, not making any sounds. Didn’t stretch it around, just straight out. And she would close her eyes when she did it. I have her in isolation with food and fresh water in case it is something contagious.

I believe she is breathing normally and no more craning/gaping. Her comb color and posture are back to normal. It may sound crazy but I think she may have had something caught in her throat.

No, it's not crazy at all, it does happen. I'm glad she coughed it up!

I’m glad she’s feeling better!
On a lighter note, my mom had an awful eye-watering cough one time that nothing would work on...I said maybe it’s gapeworms.....after she googled it she didn’t find it nearly as funny as I did!

So poor little girl died this evening. She seemed like she was back to normal (albeit more sedate because she was secluded from the others) so I was surprised when she took a turn and the symptoms returned (gaping, dark comb). Taking her to UC Davis for necropsy tomorrow to make sure the rest of the girls are safe. Thank you to everyone for your responses. Nice to know there are concerned chicken owners out there.
