Emergency tail tucked trying to make noise

So glad UC Davis is relatively close. I’m going to call UCDVMC tomorrow and see if they will do a consult over the phone to get recommendations on eliminating/controlling Marek’s in the coop. I’m thinking they would have the most current knowledge around the virus.

BYC has been such a great resource as well. I am going to do a massive coop clean up this weekend - replace the sand, clean out nesting boxes, feeders, spray down everything with Oxine, etc.

I have the girls on a good probiotic so I’ll also eliminate the scratch to ensure they are getting the best nutrition and avoid eating off the run floor. Just finished a chicken tractor so I can rotate them around the yard without fear of predators (lots of Hawks here). Keeping them healthy and strong is all do can do at this point.

Go the report back. She had Marek's. I suspect the other hen I lost a few weeks ago had the same. I have two more girls from that same group of chicks and two more that I got nearly a year later. I suspect they are all infected. From what I've read, that's likely the case. Will call the vet and ask about vaccinating the others in the hope that some will survive. Any other recommendations/advice is welcome.
Didn't want to 'like' your post, because finding out you have Mareks just stinks, nothing to like about it.
But thanks for reporting back and Best of cLuck dealing with it.
