Basics are suppossed to "step back" when a P arrives on scene?!?!?! No wonder they get a God complex. Here, they do all of the things that only they can do (IV's, IO's, EKG), and the B's do everything else, as well as assist with all the paramedic stuff. My squad has been 100% basic for thirty years, and we just got our first P two weeks ago. He's also the youngest on the crew, and we're not yet ready to bow to him. We're super fortunate to finally be able to serve our patients better, and we're hoping that our new P is humble enough to be a valuable team member as opposed to a haughty boss.
