Emergency

Sorry about your roo. I hope he's okay. Next time people come over, put away the birds. I'm sure your uncle didn't want to hurt him, just wanted it to not attack the kid. I doubt he leaped outta bed, then put on his steel toe boots that day and said to himself ' I'm going over to my nephew's house and kick that rooster real hard today, going to be one of those kick a rooster hard in the face days'

Okay, your original question was "What should I do?" I would just keep an extra good eye on him for injuries, also, I think we can all agree that you should put him away when you have company next time!
(Also if the child was young enough to be badly hurt, if your roo had not been kicked and managed to hurt the kid, you might have been forced to get rid of the rooster depending on the injury.)

I hope he fully recovers fast!

First of all my family was having a barbecue in the backyard and there kids were playing outside I told them not to get close to the rooster or his hen Bc he is very protective of them
You should have put the bird up and not expect inexperienced children to handle a potential problem.

Sounds like you knew there could be trouble. Therefore IMO, the responsibility was on you to keep the rooster contained away from the children so no harm could come to them, then this would not have happened.
Exactly!

He doesn’t have spurs yet and his like my child
I'm guessing you yourself are a child and have no idea what it's like to actually be a parent. Your uncle was protecting his child.

RantOver.

You are lucky your family allows you to have chickens, let alone a rooster. Many kids are not as lucky.

First of all my family was having a barbecue in the backyard and there kids were playing outside I told them not to get close to the rooster or his hen Bc he is very protective of them I was inside my room when my sister called me saying my uncle kicked him and he went flying she said Bc he attacked one of the kids I dont the full story but to me it doesn’t matter I’ll always take the side of my chickens Bc they are more important to me
Your family pays the bills - they should be able to fully enjoy their backyard without being attacked by an aggressive bird. If you want to make sure you can continue to keep him it's time to have a secure enclosure to keep him in when people want to use the yard.

You have a rooster that you admit is mean and will attack people. Yet you allowed it to stay loose so it could attack kids. Wrong on two counts. Your rooster was kicked because it was attacking someone. You need to rehome it or lock it up. You say you live with family. I can guarantee you that, if that rooster injures someone, THEY will take the issue into their own hands and have it killed or get rid of it. You sound like you are living at home and they allowed you to have chickens. You do not have any right to allow a dangerous rooster to be at large. If the kick didn't do him any harm then you need to put him in a pen and keep him there. No, he does not have a right to roam around above the other people and their guests that live there. There are enough nice roosters in the world that no one should be keeping a mean one.

Now that he is scared I think that may be a good thing. Maybe he won’t try to attack others.

I appreciate that you love your rooster, but a rooster is a rooster, a dog is a dog, a cat is a cat.

They have specific qualities, but when it interferes with others it becomes a problem. Instead of the rooster ruling your life you have to rule the rooster in order to protect him.

What can YOU do to protect him? And protect others from him to ensure his safety?
